Weekend #12

TWELVE!

That's it. We're done! No more weekends in the apartment.

Come Friday we'll be sleeping at the new house and I am so excited...and so ready to get there!

I'd love to keep up the 'apartment life ain't so bad' schpeel...but seriously. We're so over it! Survivable yes, but this last week is killing us. Have I mentioned:

  • The people upstairs are atrocious. So loud and at really odd hours. And they vacuum, constantly.
  • In Andy's words: he could spit clean the dishes better than the dishwasher.
  • The water is scalding hot in two seconds. Like burn your hand off, but once you get it hot, there's no water pressure.
  • The thirteen channels of non-cable. Totally ridiculous. Oh but we for some weird reason get VH1 and MTV, so it's been a Jersey Shore kind of weekend. (DirectTV will be meeting us at the door once we sign our closing paperwork).
  • No matter where I'm at, there is not sufficient lighting to tweeze my eyebrows. And if you know me, you know I like my tweezer as much as my family.
  • I've already got that disorder that comes around in the winter when you never see sun, because blankets cover every window...because the blinds are pathetic and I'm pretty sure people are watching us, always.
  • The kitchen light randomly shuts off...like for no reason at all. Which is super fun when eating dinner and Emmie says "where'd Emmie go?"
So that's that.

5 more nights.

Weekend #11

You know how you have a project to work on, but you also know you have like three months to complete it? So every night you tell yourself you'll just do it tomorrow...and then bam the project needs to actually get done because you're kind of moving into a new house in less than TWO WEEKS!

So, sneak peek on the new big girl bedroom of one Miss Emmie Fellows:

I had these white gauzy curtains from the nursery and I decided instead of throwing them, I would try to upcycle them, Pinterest style.

The supplies sat in my car for the entire summer, until Sunday when we were having breakfast at Nana and Papa's and I commented on this project needing to get done. So mom said let's do it. And then dad watched us and decided to take part in project curtain revamp and Andy, the smart man that he is, stayed far, far away in Elmo land with Emmie.

Painters tape + paint = stripes!

When we started I asked Andy what he thought. And on a scale of one to ten in being able to pull this project off, Andy gave us a two. No faith.

And because my family was born without the patience gene, we used the blow dryer to speed the process along.

And I give us a TEN in pulling this off! You know I like to be crafty...as much as I like to be right.

Weekend #10

Oh, did I forget to blog about the weekend that sent us into double digits?!

Weekend Ten!!

Not too much to report. Errands, nap fighting, family fun time. The usual.

Let's talk about what else today is....GBS half anniversary.

Six months ago, the doctor confirmed my husband did not have a brain tumor. Six months ago, the doctor confirmed he did not have MS. Six months ago, we never knew Gillain Barre was the best thing we could have hoped for.

I look back at this post and I can't even believe I had enough composure to write a full sentence let alone lots of paragraphs - because that is not at all how I was feeling! And had I known the outcome would have been this okay, I probably would've been a lot more sane.  Yes, there were many days that the man in hospital was calming me down, thank you dear for always being strong when I can't be.

Andy believes he is at 100% with just some occasional tingling in his toes. And knowing how bad this could have been, I think we'll take tingling toes any day.

I'm done throwing myself a one armed pity party

Let's move on to Emmie who literally makes me laugh outloud everyday. She's funny and she knows it. And she's naughty but with that little angel face, she can get away with a lot.

Her new tricks:

Talking. Oh my god, she is talking non stop. Her favorite question: where ____ go? Fill in the blank with mama, dadda, nana, papa, tee-tee (Kristy), lee-lee (Livvy).  And you answer the question once, you'll be answering it a hundred times.

And the nana and papa thing; I'm in love with it. I've not so secretly always wanted Emmie to call my parents nana and papa, I think it's the cutest thing ever. And then one day, she did. I didn't even encourage her, I think it was just easier to say. And believe me...the "laa you nana" with a wave and kiss in the air will melt your heart.

Other heart melters....we've always been mama and dadda. And this week....we were upgraded to mommy and daddy. Ohmagawd. How sweet to hear mommy out of that little face!

Oh and she's getting a little bossy. Like when she tells you to sit down, but it comes out a little more Hitlerish sounding like "mama, seeeeeet dowwwn."

She is very obsessed with books right now, which is a perfect playtime for me...not so much moving, not so much racing around.

She is also obsessed with her blankies. All of them. She has 2 little blankies and 2 bigger blankies and they're all going everywhere these days. Which completely scares me...what if we lose one!?

She is still going to bed like a dream, but likes a little alone time before she falls asleep. She sings, she dinks around....she takes off her pants, you know totally normal stuff.

Emmie and Brother Tuck during family fun time at the kennel.

Great Aunt Carmen taught Emmie to pick apples and then use her shirt to carry them all.

And this one if from earlier this summer, but I just got to see it for the first time. Thanks Heidi!

Arm Update

Here's the sitch:

My appointment this morning, lamesville. Nothing new to report.

No additional xrays, no fancy cure...nothing.

He confirmed the fracture and said he'd see me in a month. What? That's it?

I asked what the healing time frame is and he said 6-8 weeks. I almost lost it. Let's think pessimistically, because that's what I do the best, and go with 8 weeks. Oh funny, that's the week of my c-section.

So I can't pick up Emmie for 8 weeks due to my arm and then another 6 weeks after that because of the little cutting me open thing.

I am really sad.  I'm already feeling so disconnected from my peanut and I now realize it's only going to get worse. Maybe it's not such a bad thing that I can't carry her now...maybe then she won't blame the baby for me not holding her later?!

That's my story.

The arm really doesn't hurt that bad, it's just super annoying. I can't straighten my arm or rotate my wrist. But I can type...so that's nice. Oh and did I mention the super fun charley horses I've been getting in my bicep...I'm thisclose to amputating.

Who wants to come pack up the apartment and then put it all away in the new house?? Okaythanks!
