oh my how time changes everything

Who are these kiddos?
Eight years ago? I can't even remember exactly to be quite honest. Andy and I were engaged and moving to Fargo. We were so very excited to move into our own apartment. No more roommates, just us. We signed our lease with giddiness.  We had a couch and a papazan chair and I'm pretty sure that's about it. We loved our new apartment. It was brand new with beige walls and it was perfect for us.

Fast forward to today when we sat in that very same rental office and put down a deposit on that very same apartment. Ok, same apartment complex, this time a three bedroom. We had the 'please don't make us do this face on' and bleh feeling about the whole thing.

But, it's happening and there's nothing we can do about it.  So, here's me trying to be positive:

-It's really only going to be two and a half months (official close date on our house is October 5th!!)

-Andy doesn't have to mow for the whole summer.

-I really won't have to unpack that many clothes...just the maternity stuff.

Super stoked about apartment life.
-I can crank the AC and not think twice about it.

-We're on the first floor, so we'll still get to run around in the grass and all that.

-We're closer to Cherry Berry, Andy new fave dessert place.

-No shedding dog for a while. Yep, we have to board Tuck for the long haul (unless you'd like to take him). There were no apartments or townhomes that would do a short term lease and take a pet. Thankfully he loves the kennel he goes to.

-No more crazy cleaning.

So it's going to be hectic, probably a bit annoying, but it will most certainly be an adventure. And I know we'll look back at these few months and laugh and realize it's just one more thing that we survived with a smile...and one that will surely make us appreciate our new house that much more!

the nonsense is over!

The house is SOLD!

And it was a photo finish.

To recap. Couple A offered last weekend but still had a house to sell. In comes Couple B on Wednesday night with another offer. The clock was ticking. Couple A had 48 hours to sell their house....and they DID!  The offers were pretty much the same so it didn't really matter, but couple A is giving us another week to close. So that's great.

Here we go...off to find an apartment to house ourselves for the next few months. We will start digging on the new house the first week in June and hopefully be in with a month to spare before Baby Fellows arrives.

Phew, it's going to be busy!

People I’d like to punch, in no particular order:

My doctor. Who told me today that we have to wait EIGHT more weeks to find out the sex of this baby. At my next appointment I will be 19 weeks, and the new rule is nothing less than 20 weeks for the big ultrasound. So I have to wait an additional four weeks after that. (Baby is happy and healthy by the way.) I get it, there are certain things that can be seen in the later weeks and what’s between the legs isn’t that important in the big picture…but I wannnnna know now!

My nurse. Who told me to ask the doctor to get my ultrasound earlier…because then the doctor said no way and I looked like a big jerk.

The people who made a low ball offer on our house. Really? Are we on Million Dollar Listings here? I don’t think so. We countered big time and they accepted. Ha. Now they need to sell their house so we can build ours! Or, we’ll just take the next best offer that comes along…whichever works for me.

Whoever gave my kid Hand Foot Mouth. Now I realize the person in this situation is probably a child…so perhaps the parent that sent their kid to daycare to infest the whole place. Emmie was sent home last week with a 102.8 degree fever and started to get all rashy the next day. Oh poor kid! She’s feeling fine, but that fair skin of hers just looks horrible with all of those red bumps!

People I don’t want to punch, in no particular order:

Our fantastic babysitter who saw me picking up Em at school and offered to watch her the next day so we didn’t have to take a day off. Really? Could she be more wonderful?

The lady at the kennel that put Tucker ahead of everyone else on the waiting list and got him in this holiday weekend…because he’s a “regular”. Oh weekends that are hair free, dog walk free and dog poo free are so fantastic…again with the house cleaning nonsense, let’s sell this B*.

The inventors of International Delight Iced Coffee in the half gallon milk container all ready to go. Yes, I’m partaking in the caffeine with this pregnancy…sorry poor number 2. But, this way I can just have a little sip in the morning instead of staring at the tall glass of delicious McDonalds iced coffee that is just begging not to be wasted.

The creepy guy on the Bachelorette that stood in the corner and watched while Emily read a seven page letter aloud from another dude. Awkwardness makes me laugh. And add to people I want to punch, Emily, for that obnoxious little giggle/laugh she adds to the end of almost every sentence. As Andy says, it doesn’t matter what she looks like, that could be a deal breaker.

the other fellows

I forget sometimes that maybe you didn’t come here to just read about Tupperware and cardigans…I mean it’s super interesting and all…but there are a couple others in the house that are entertaining as well.

The husband. He’s been back at work full time for two weeks now. All is going well. He is still regaining strength and heading to PT once a week. His feet and toes are still a bit numb, which is apparently really annoying. And little things add up during the day, like the long trip to the cafeteria or out to the parking lot. And because he’s a doer…he still wants to work on outside projects or little things at night, so it’s frustrating to him when he’s tired. But if those are the only negatives almost two months out, I say we're doing okay!

The kid. I can’t even begin to explain how funny this kid is. She is the light of my day.

She is completely obsessed with socks and shoes and is already picky about which ones to wear. She outgrew a favorite pair and had a complete meltdown when I gave her a different pair. And yes, one afternoon she took a nap with shoes in hand…I really wasn’t interested in the fight.

She LOVES puzzles. And she’s getting so good at them. And it keeps her in one spot for about ten minutes which is even more amazing.

And her new favorite word is butt. And when she says it, she slaps it. I try not to laugh, but I’m sure I taught her that…every time I change her diaper I pat her tushy…so maybe I should stop that?

This week in numbers.

2. The times my heart has literally skipped a beat out of excitement...over dip. First, when I opened the fridge and saw left over 7 layer dip from the night before that I had completely forgotten about and second, when I got to work Monday morning and saw French onion dip from our potluck, orange label obviously and yes, I had it for breakfast.

13. The number of cardigans I pulled from the washing machine Monday night. Wardrobe rut much? And that is just the number of cardigans in need of washing. I mean, that’s just ridiculous and it’s not going to get any better. Is there anything easier than a tank and a cardigan to get you through a pregnancy?

23. The number of Tupperware containers we cleaned out of the fridge before garbage day. Seriously. 23 containers full of leftover food. And not moldy old food…like four carrots here, two potatoes there…because you know, we’re always going to feed them to Emmie…and then we don’t.

3530. Our new house number! Ok, future house number. We signed our lives away but we won't start digging until this house sells...the thought of two mortgage payments is just a little too anxiety provoking for us.

All of those numbers added together and multiplied by another big number. The dollar amount we saw at the bottom of Andy’s medical bill. Holy hell. And half the cost was from the pharmacy...apparently that IVIG really was liquid gold.

Lay.Z.

Funny how the word lazy actually has the word lay in it...like the inventor of the word couldn't even get off the couch to come up with a really good word. He just added a "z" to the end of what he was doing...like Snoop Dog and izzle.

But seriously. All I want to do is lay on the couch. And until bedtime for the mini tornado, it isn't possible. But once that glorious 7pm chimes on the non existant clock we have, it's couch, tv and not much more. Like blogging for instance. Did you know I put the computer in the bedroom a week ago...and obviously have been too lazy to break it out and actually type on it...because my phone is good enough for Facebook and well, the couch doesn't provide too many entertaining blog stories.

Oh, and when I'm trying to be lazy, guess what's not awesome?

Leaving the house in perfect condition every time we walk out the door. Did I mention we don't have enough on our plates right now and we decided to put the house up for sale? Great idea huh? So, cross your fingers it sells so we can stop this cleaning nonsense.

Needless to say, we're back on the building bandwagon. More details to come...
