Am I getting old or what?

That was a rhetorical question jerk, you didn't have to answer yes so quickly AND laugh.

So I'm wondering when that "momness" is going to set in. You know, the voice that tells you to shop at age appropriate stores and to listen to age appropriate music.

I recently downloaded some new tunes and burned myself a little ass shakin' CD for the car (see I'm old, I burned a CD because I can't even find my ipod right now and of course it wouldn't be charged if I did locate it). Now I realize that while my ass is shaking, so is this baby's.  And I hope she's just moving around and she's not fist pumping in utero.  Right behind the new Enrique Iglesias song is a little tune I can't help but rock out to: Sexy Bitch by David Guetta and Akon.

She's nothing like a girl you've ever seen before
Nothing you can compare to your neighborhood hoe
I'm trying to find the words to describe this girl
Without being disrespectful
Damn Girl You's a Sexy Bitch, a sexy bitch, a sexy bitch

What? Those lyrics aren't appropriate for a pregnant lady to be listening to, but I can't help myself. I mean, shouldn't there be some little voice in my head saying "that sexy bitch is someone's daughter, turn that crap off!" But no, I just hit repeat.

And then, the shopping at appropriate stores part. It's a little hard to ignore the huge bright shiny sparkly wonderland that is a brand new Forever 21 store in our mall. I get it, I haven't been 21 in, well Forever. But the store is just too enticing with its totally cheap duds and accessories as far as the eye can see.

I will say that the only thing worse than shopping at Forever 21 at age 29 is being the latter plus pregnant. But, I figure accessories and cardigans always fit - but oh what did my little eyes spy - only about a dozen tops that will be mine once I'm back to my fighting weight.

So while my shame almost stopped me from entering, my desire to be hip pushed me right through those doors. And there's nothing more hip than using the word hip.

Maybe that momness IS starting to set in.

  1. I am not judging you for shopping there. But I am also not 21.

  2. I love that song!! I dance all around my house while cleaning to equally inappropriate songs, at 36 wks pregnant. It's all good!

  3. You can listen to those songs until your child is two. But then, time to switch to something more mom-appropriate or the two year old might pick up a new word and walk around the house saying "SHIT, SHIT, SHIT" (or in your case "sexybitch") all.day.long.
